untitled (Hogup
Pumping Station)

lambda prints, custom frame

USA, state of Utah, on the other side of the Great Salt Lake, vis-a-vis of Smithson’s Spiral Jetty there’s a huge pumping station uncharted on official maps. This station is responsible for the lake’s water level and thus for the appearance and disappearance of the Jetty. I went to the station, took a picture of it, then found satellite photography of the region, placed the station in perspective toward the Jetty and made this semi-sculptural, semi-photographical work of living room land art.
